Why You Should Serve Mexican Food at Your Next Party

Tacos make the world go ’round. If that isn’t a saying, it should be!

Americans love their tacos, as 10% of all U.S. restaurants sell Mexican, making it the most popular international cuisine for Americans. Reports from April 2017 show that there were nearly 60,000 Mexican restaurants throughout the U.S., making it increasingly easy to get your hands on Mexican cuisine wherever you might be located in the country. And consider this: Americans eat more than 4 billion tacos each year. That’s a lot of love for a single food item.

If you’re considering planning an event, preferably one where catering is required, you should already know what the obvious cuisine choice should be. If you don’t, it’s Mexican. Mexican food makes for a viable food source that is likely to statistically please most, if not all, of your guests.

If you’ve been convinced, are considering hosting a taco party and need a Mexican catering menu, then you should consider bringing these Mexican staples to the table:

Tacos

Although this has already been stated, it needs to be said again and again. A Mexican catering menu isn’t complete unless it has tacos. If you’re looking for something unique — something that will allow your guests to specialize their tacos to their own tastes — consider having a taco bar at your party. A taco bar is one of the best options to round out that Mexican catering menu, allowing your guests to feel as if they’re at a Mexican restaurant, choosing what needs to be inside their taco and what can be left out. Beef, chicken, pork, red onions, diced peppers, lettuce, guacamole — the choices and combinations are endless.

Enchiladas

If people want something a little heavier and more substantial, enchiladas are the way to go. Consider serving both vegetarian and meat options, so guests have a choice based upon their diets and food interests. This will pair well with tacos, too, as it will allow guests to combine the two on their plates, providing them with the option to sample both items from the Mexican catering menu.

Chips, Salsa, Guacamole

Snacks are always a must when catering. Sometimes people don’t want full meals at a party; they’d rather just have something to munch on instead. In comes the tortilla chips, salsa, and guacamole. These allow guests to pick and choose when, what, and how much they eat, rather than having to settle for a whole taco or enchilada.

Drinks To Go With All That Food

What would a Mexican catering menu be without having a bar in mind? Tequila, rum and cerveza always make or great options, whether people are having them “neat” or mixing them together. Here are some great drink ideas to consider:

  • Spicy Margarita: jalapeno-infused tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, orange liqeur and a chili powder and salt coating around the rim
  • Paloma: tequila, grapefruit soda and lime
  • Michelada: cerveza, lime juice and salt/chillies
  • Chavela: beer, tequila, tomato juice, hot sauce and lemon

You need all of the right ingredients to have a great party. The combination of these Mexican cuisine staples will ensure your guests are left with a night they’ll long remember, maybe.
