Summer BBQs are a lot of fun! But when using propane, there are some things you’ll need to know. Keep reading to learn some propane safety tips for summer BBQs.

First, make sure you keep the propane tank outside. The propane tank should be outside for use, storage, refills, and inspections.

Avoid bringing the tank into your home for any reason.

Second, keep the propane tank upright. When the tank is in use, is stored, or in your car to get a refill, it cannot be left on its side.

Third, check for leaks occasionally. You may smell the propane, but even if you do not, you’ll need to check for leaks. This can be done with soapy water poured lightly on the tank. If you see any bubbles form, you’ll need to avoid using it and get it repaired or replaced.

Fourth, stay aware when using your propane tank. Watch out for any smells that could indicate leaks and never smoke around the tank. If you experience any issues, turn the valve off immediately.
